Bio 

Prior to my full retirement in 2006 I served as a commissioned officer from 1963 to 1984, retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel. In 1984 I began a 22 year career in public education as a teacher/administrator from 1984 to 2006. My Army career saw me serving with service schools, unified commands, tactical units, and materiel research, development, test and evaluation organizations.

Chief, Weapons Effects Division
Responsible for US Army Chemical Data Base and proponency of Army Regulations pertinent to nuclear, biological, and chemical survivability of personnel and materiel on the integrated battlefield. Exercised supervision of five project officers whose functions included doctrine development and organizational and materiel requirements for nuclear, biological, and chemical survivability. Also served as guest instructor at the US Army Chemical Center and School.

Division Chemical Officer
Responsible to the Commanding General for all aspects of nuclear, biological, and chemical defense and pertinent training for all elements of the 2nd Armored Division. Functioned as chief of the Division Chemical Section of officers, NC0s, and enlisted soldiers whose responsibilities included all aspects of NBC defense preparedness and training. Exercised operational control over the 43d Chemical Company in it's mission of providing NBC defensive service to all elements of the division and the company's functions as a principal training cadre to all elements of the division.

Chief, Test Policy Division
Exercised management of a division of GS civilians in the development and maintenance of policy via regulations governing the planning, execution, analysis, and reporting of all test activities of all developmental Army materiel and equipment. Served as the focal point for education in test and evaluation doctine of all assigned personnel to TECOM and all of its subordinate test centers and proving grounds. Conducted classes in planning, execution, analysis, and reporting of materiel development tests for all newly assigned test personnel of all subordinate test centers and proving grounds as well as for service schools and colleges requesting guest instruction. Functioned as command briefing officer for any and all visitors to HQ US Army Test and Evaluation Command.

Served as principal assistant to the Assistant Commandant in all matters pertinent to the mission and functions of the US Army Chemical School including instruction in all resident and nonresident courses, development of all training media, combat developments in materiel and organization for combat, and program management of funding.

Assistant Division Chemical Officer of 4th Inf Div. Responsible for CBR defense readiness. Routinely flew combat assault in close support of ground combat employing E-158 CS Canister Cluster munitions as well as airstrikes and artillery strikes. Flew persistent CS-2 drops to restrict terrain. Flew APD hunter-killer with team of 2 OH-6 & 2 AH-1.
