I was born in Newton, NC, attended Central High School for my first 10 years, and after integration I graduated from Newton-Conover High School, in 1969. I attended Winston- Salem University for one year and then went into the US Air Force in March of 1971, after various assignments I retired in July 1991. During my twenty plus years I was able to obtain to degrees. An AA degree and a BS.

Supervised acquisition, maintenance, and distribution of equipment valued in excess of $1 million. Responsible for maintaining liaisons with allied military agencies for mutual support during normal and emergency situations. Directly responsible for developing plans, regulations, operating procedures, and security instructions for U. S. Air Force aircraft and weapons systems.

Responsible for the security of aircraft and weapons storage areas. Ensured protection standards were in compliance with pertinent directives. During the Vietnam War as an E4 Sgt, inspected both USAF and Thai security guards to ensure proper performance and knowledge or duties. Acted as a Response Team leader for Quick Response Forces.
