I established trust and communications with local people in a combat zone in Iraq. This resulted in human intelligence being extracted and dispersed throughout my unit and used as a driving force for further operations while being pressured by commander for results with very minimal time for productive relationship building. I led troops in Iraqis first historical election, providing decoy polling sites, vehicle check-point operations, and search and attack missions. Results allowed Iraqi citizens to freely vote without intimidation or deterrence from enemy insurgents, while operating with very minimal sleep, lack of motivation and morale.
