Senior financial advisor to the commander of a special mission unit with worldwide counter-terrorism responsibility. Negotiated with multiple levels of management to continue funding the highest priority operations during the government shutdown. Convinced higher headquarters to provide 21% in additional funding for our requirements using proof of reduced operating expenses. Successfully justified a $550 million 5-year strategic plan for the nation’s elite special operations units to the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). Working within an extremely fast-paced environment, gained senior management approval for 15% additional funding due to a diligent business case analysis of each subprogram within the organization. This annual program analysis still continues today.

Provided financial guidance to, and monitored over $500 million in financial execution and future years programs for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, 75th Ranger Regiment, and USASOC Special Mission Units. Generated additional funding for unfinanced requirements on behalf of the unit commanders to the USASOC headquarters. Conducted quarterly audits of classified programs to ensure that appropriated funds were properly accounted for and thus protected select U.S. Army operational and intelligence capabilities. Developed the Manager’s Internal Control Program for the Army’s most classified programs, which led to additional $4 million in funding for shortfalls identified in the inspection process.

Led a four-person cross-functional team that oversaw the recruiting and training of the Sons of Iraq (armed local volunteer) program and Iraqi Security Forces in central Iraq during much-heralded “Surge”. Routinely briefed U.S. and Iraqi senior leaders on the progress of the program and resources required to legitimize those volunteers.
