Basic training Fort Leonard Woods the fall of 1967. I wonder how I made it through it because I never saw myself as military person.
AIT training Fort Sill. It was an exceptionally harsh winter. Never forget eating ham & eggs C-Rations and farting all night in a small pup tent with another nice guy. We laughed our asses off.
Served in Vietnam for 14 1/2 months because I extended my tour of duty 2 1/2 months to get an early out. Nex day sent north to a hot spots. We did an extraordinary job of protecting the other units so they could moved to safety out of the jungle. Monsoons came early. Up to our asses in mud. Big Brass gave a stateside inspection in the middle of a battlefield. Disillusioned.
Earned BA, 2 MA's. Worked healthcare management. Still battle with PTSD. Been rough.
