Was drafted into the US Army 26 Apr.1966. Was sent to Ft. Riley, KS. for basic training with the 9th Infantry Div. The 1st Infantry Div. had just departed Ft Riley for Vietnam. After basic I entered AIT. During this time I and 40 other newly graduated basic trainees were sent to main post to attend the 5th Army NCO Academy for two weeks. We returned to Camp Forscythe and became acting Corporals and squad leaders in 4th/39th/9thI.D.
