Automatic Rifleman
Arrived in Chu Lai, Viet Nam on February 4, 1966. During deployment on First Combat Operation Shot in abdomen during Operation Double Eagle II. Surgery performed on USS Repose, spent 22 days recovering then transferred to Air Force hospital on Guam. Spent 2 months recovering then sent back to E/2/7. Contracted Malaria while on Operation Prairie in the DMZ in September of 1966. Hospitalized in Da Nang then Okinawa. After relapse, sent back to states to Great Lakes Naval Training Center hospital for recovery. Had one more relapse before completely recovering. Stationed as Brig Guard at Great Lakes for 3 months. Then transferred to Henderson Hall in Arlington, Va. as security guard at Pentagon.
