I was drafted in 1968, went to basic, AIT, and straight to Vietnam. Went to D/2/12, 1st Air Cav. (Stacked Deck), Served as a Machine gunner, Rifleman, and Squad leader. Got to jump out of helicopters, the ride was fun, getting there was scary, My rifle got shot out of my hands once, glad it was there, bullet would have scrambled my guts if it hadn't been. Got to see and do what most just talk about.
