11B infantry. Also, Section Leader for 81mm mortars due to lack of 11C's. Functioned mainly as an infantryman in 4th platoon. Eventually became Platoon Sgt. Before Vietnam I was a Drill Corporal at Ft. Campbell, KY, training troops in basic training. Principal Instructor for Drill & Ceremonies. Attended NCO Academy at Ft. McClellan, AL for Drill Corporal Instructor Training. Entered Army on November 30, 1967 at Ft. Dix, NJ, where I had Basic and Advanced Infantry training. After training, I was sent to Ft. Campbell, KY.

11B infantry, but assigned to a 81mm mortar platoon due to lack of 11C's. Became Fire Direction Center Section Leader, then Platoon Sgt. when higher ranking NCO's rotated out of country. We operated mainly as an infantry platoon, nightly ambushes, etc. I was then assigned to the Battalion TOC(Tactical Operating Center) as a radio operator.
