Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Departmnet (AIMD)
I was mustered out at Whiting Field, FL. I didn't retire in the service like this form auto-filled it out to say.
I was in NS Rota, Spain & NAS Whiting Field FL plus A-school in Millington TN. In Spain, I worked in GSE on equipment and in Whiting, I was the Assistant Safety PO, SR Female PO along with squadron GSE needs. Then they removed all ASM'S from Squadron's. (organizational level) & put us in Ground Support Equipment within AIMD. (Intermediate level) We worked in a shop on all types of equipment.
Ground Support Equipment Technician Hydraulics & Pneumatics. ASH (later changed the rating so we were all ASM'S) Spain, FL, TN for A school. I don't like to give dates due to so many ways to hack into our info. No GI Bill. in between them unfortunately. I was in for 4 yrs 10 months. I made 10 months of my inactive reserve time active for my ex who just made the cut off for the Nam GI Bill. So we could stay in the area till he graduated. He got out 2 years before I and was my dependent after that. I wish I had put aside some of my Navy pay to go towards my education but we needed it then.
