I joined the Navy 21 days after my 17th birthday, 27 Sep 1962. I served as enlisted for 7 years, including one year of combat duty in Vietnam, receiving an Honorable Discharge 26 Sep 1969. Jan 1979 I was commissioned ENS, TSP at Naval Recruiting Center, Columbus OH, going to my first active duty assignment as a LTJG, CHC in June 1980. I retired CDR(FMF), CHC 1 JAN 1999.
