2nd deployment, USS Fanning FF 1076. We set sail 7 months after the attack on the USS Stark by Iraqi jets during the Iran-Iraq war. The mood on board was tense, and exasperated during our transit through the Straits of Hormuz. I became CIC watch Sup during this deployment. As a newly appointed 2nd class, I was extremely proud of my accomplishments.
