Recent Activity  -

Military Experiences

Feb 1979 - May 1995
Senior Drill Instructor
Started the self-paced Drill Sergeant school and within 5 months had graduated, (thanks to my 4 yrs active duty Infantry experience). Was awarded my 'Hat' in September 1979 even though I was still a SP4, I was given Buck stripes (acting jack) until they got my promotion papers in. In early 1980's I was promoted to E-6 and in May 1985 was promoted to E-7 and from that point on was a Senior Drill Instructor. I did pull a 1 year stint as a Training NCO after I was reassigned to the 3/416th and drilled in Sunnyside, WA. For most of my Reserve career I also served as a Retention NCO in the two units I was in with a 98% retention rate.
Mar 1975 - Aug 1977
2/24
Forward Observer
Started as the Battalion Forward Observer with the Combat Support Company's 4 deuce platoon. Was reassigned as the company deuce driver, then was also given the duty of Company Supply Rep when they tried to combine the Supply Sergeants at Battalion. Interesting note; my final EER was as a 76Y30 Supply Sergeant even though I was an 11B10 bonus baby.
Mar 1974 - Mar 1975
Infantryman
Started out in 1st Platoon Infantry, was reassigned to the Mortar Platoon where I became an FO.
