Born in Baltimore, MD, late 1944. Father was Army in the Pacific. The family lived in an Irish neighborhood near Ft McHenry. The family moved when dad was stationed in New Mexico, Panama (Canal Zone), Japan, Alaska and we retired we settled in Columbus, GA. High school in Columbus, college at U of Georgia. Graduated DMG from Army ROTC and commissioned into AIS. Airborne, Ranger, SF, flight school

Company Commander
MFWIC of a 33-aircraft (OV-1/RV-1) unit with a theater support mission. We flew the border between East and West 365 days a year as well as flying photo support for Army units. We tried to pick up all the missions the Air Force fast movers couldn't fly because of ceiling/vis.

Scout Platoon Leader
Led a group of fearless OH-6 pilots and gunners playing pin the map with the NVA after all US combat units were withdrawn. Went to F/8 after returning from medevac from D/17 (Sabres) in August - 4th PH. They would fly us in to an area and wait for us to get shot out, then they'd put a pin in the map. A couple days later, we approach on a different vector to get the next pin. When we had a good outline, in came the arclight. Took a 12.7 through the right foot the day after Thanksgiving 1972. That was PH number 5.
