Assigned to the Radar Air Traffic Control Center. Worked on the Radar, IFF and TACAN equipment. Promoted to IC1 (E-6) August 1966.

USS Impervious (MSO-449)
Assigned to the Engineering Department. It turns out I was the first IC assigned to the ship in over a year. The equipment was in bad shape. By the time I departed, all assigned equipment was operating in excellent shape and the ship was ready for its West Pac cruise. There was no other IC aboard when I departed.

Promoted to IC2 (E-5) October 1963. In Charge of the Movie Booth, USS Shangri-La (CVA-38). Assigned as Captain's Movie Operator. Flown to the various Movie Exchanges to retrieve specific films for my Captain and his family, who stayed at the hotels of our port-of-calls.
