Entered the Air Force in Sept 1967, SP Tech school, Lackland right after basic training, After tech school. home for the holidays with leave time. First duty staton. CCK AB, Taiwan, arrived the first of January 1968. Had heath issues and was taken from SP’s and put in the Motor Pool to abide my time unit next change of duty stations. Next one Berlin, Templolf AB, then on to Alconbury a RAF, Eng.
Military Experiences
Jan 1968 - Mar 1969
Security Police, worked the tarmac at CCK AB in Taiwan; guarding C 130s, KC 135s and aircraft in for a few days for maintenance or foul weather elsewhere; like SR 71 and a flight of B52 bombers that could not return to the Philippines due to a typhoon.
Also had random duty at the front gate, and standing guard at the command center, plus guarding the fuel jet fuel pumps at the coast 5 miles or so from CCK.
Had medical problems a year or so into the tour there and was put in the motor pool driving crews off and on the tarmac, and a few times driving the base shuttle bus. And for a time too, was made A1C of weeds and seeds, a project to cleanup the grounds of a old Chinese building, that was to become the new SP command center or etc; I usually had a few men assigned to me.
