Leading Radarman
In charge of the Combat Radio Operators during Operation Giant Slingshot on the Van Co Tay and Van Co Dong Rivers in Four Corps, South Vietnam.

Came onboard as RD Seaman and left as a PO2 Leading Radarman. Served as one of the two Radarman onboard standing radar watch while underway. Also, in charge of all the Confidential and Secret Booklets onboard.

USS Abnaki ATF- 96
Left Pearl Harbor for Guam then Subic Bay, Philippines then on to Danang to start one month duty on Yankee Station following the Russian Trawler. Stop at Hong Kong for R&R proceeded to Taiwan but ran into Typhoon "Carla" and had to rescue a 100 ton Crane set adrift by an Army Tug. Towed a barge from Vietnam to Japan then left for Pearl harbor.

USS Abnaki ATF-96
Visited Guam; Japan; Okinawa; Danang, South Vietnam; on Yankee Station from 23 May to 20 June. Then to Hong Kong; Yokosuka, Japan to Thailand; Taiwan; back to Guam then to South Vietnam again then home via Sasebo and Yokosuka arriving back to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii by November.
