Drafted in 1967. Basic at Ft Campbell, AIT at Ft Ord, Viet Nam training at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Wounded in VN December 1968. Transferred to hospital in Japan on 12/31/1968, to Fitzsimmons in Denver in January 1969. Assigned to Ft Meade MD in March 1969. Discharged June 1969. Used GI Bill to graduate with Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from U of Minnesota in 1972 then MBA in 1980.

Platoon Guide in basic or AIT is a great job. You get to schedule fire watch and administer weekend passes. Some got punched out or otherwise disrespected but I would guess my experience was more typical.
