Bio 

Geri Lynn Maples currently serves as the Dayton & Southwestern Ohio Chapter Director with Blue Star Families. She is a Military Spouse & Caregiver to her husband, Robert, who served in the United States Army & the Ohio National Guard for over 20 years. They have two children, Shane and Emily, and both are working on their Graduate Degrees! Since her spouse’s return home from Operation Iraqi Freedom, she has dedicated her career to assisting others in understanding the uniqueness associated with the military way of life both during and after service. She served as the Military and Veterans Family Program Director with Union Institute & University and helped develop the university's inaugural Military & Veteran Program. She is the 2020 Elizabeth Dole Fellow for Ohio, served as the Vice-Chair with the Southern Ohio Council on Higher Education (SOCHE) Veterans Committee, and is viewed as a leader by those who support the military community within the Ohio region. In 2019, Geri defended her Doctoral Dissertation, which is dedicated to raising awareness of the educational needs of Military Spouses, Caregivers, and dependent children. Today, her dissertation and her second book dedicated to Finding Creativity Along the Caregiver Journey are published as a book with Barnes & Noble!
