Deck Seaman, and Postal Clerk
I was stationed in Jacksonville (Mayport, Florida). I was on the USS SPRUANCE DD-963. There was 300 crew and 30 officers, including the captain. I worked with Deck Division for 1 1/2 years, before I started working with the Post office. My ship did training off the coast of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for a month or better. After all of our preparations for a 6 month deployment. The USS Spruance DD-963 deployed to the Mediterranean Sea on May 10th,1993 and returned about November 10th, 1993. Rota, Spain, Alicante, Spain, Sicily, Italy, Souda Bay Crete, Greece, Hurghada, Egypt, a sister city of Jordan, Toulon,France. We mostly patrolled off the coast of Hurghada, Egypt. The Ships Captain had a big party on the beach with food, and live music all night long. I was also stationed in Norfolk, VA.

Postal Clerk
I was stationed in Jacksonville, FL Mayport Naval Station. I was assigned to the U.S.S. Spruance DD-963 Destroyer Ship. 300 crew and 30 officer's including the Captain. I worked in Deck Division and in the Post office. Completed a 6 month Mediterranean Cruise May to November 1993. Awarded the Southwest Asia Medal and Ribbon. Deck maintenance daily. Stand watch and drive the Ship daily underway. Our ship The USS Spruance DD-963 also won the Battle "E." Competing against other Navy Destroyer Ships. The days out at sea were very long and tiring.
