Enlisted as RA PVT1 in 1953, Basic Training + Army Leaders course Ft., Ord, then to Panama Canal Zone & 33rd RCT. In 1954 passed test for West Point admission and entered W. P. In July 1956 from Army. Graduated W. P. 1960, and assigned to 20th Inf, CZ, and later 4 BN, 508 ABN. Special forces, 64, to Dom Rep War + 3 tours in RVN. Silver Star for Tet, 1967, with 4BN, 503 ABN, Retired Oct 1974.

Classified Missions as A Team Leader in 7th Special Forces Group. Awarded Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and Belatedly, the CIB for this deployment. Also served briefly as A Team Leader of a Special Forces Advisory Team for Commander of the OAS Forces Commander, Brazilian General Rosa.

S-2 Staff Officer Advisor and Intelligence Advisor to RVN 9th Infantry Division HQS, At My Tho, RVN, and in other international operations with RVN Division elements. Also served as B-52 Strike Planning Officer and took part in almost daily RVN helicopter patrol operations. Later Served as Protocol Officer for Team 9 of the U. S. Quadripartite Truce Team after the removal of most US Forces from Vietnam, stationed in My Tho, RVN.

Commanding Officer of the Republic of China Detachment of 7th Psychological Operations Group & simultaneously as S-5 Officer of US Army Forces, Taiwan, both under command of US Military Advisory Group, Taiwan. When ROC lost its seat in the United Nations, served as sole and only US Liaison officer to Headquarters of the Republic of China Military forces for about two months. Decorated with Chinese Ministry of National Defense ID Badge and ribbon and many other awards as a result of this service. Nominated for US Legion of Merit by USMAG China.

Earned Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars (1 with V), and Army Commendation Medal during Tet Campaign
