SSG SILAS R. LARSON Staff Sergeant Larson was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, is six years married, and has three children at the ages of one, three, and four. He graduated from Bowie High School in Maryland in 2010 and attended Anne Arundel Community College from 2010 to 2012. He enlisted into the U.S. Army on 14 November 2012 at Fort Meade, Maryland; graduated from Basic Combat Training in January 2013 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; and graduated from Advanced Individual Training in January 2014 at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. Staff Sergeant Larson’s first assignment was Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 163rd Military Intelligence Battalion, 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade where he served as the Orderly Room Clerk, Primary Company Armorer, Primary Company Digital Training Management System Clerk, and Military Intelligence Systems Maintainer and Integrator. While there, he supported the first deployment of the Prophet Enhanced Ground System and participated as a role player in support of the 303D Human Intelligence certification exercise. His second assignment was G2, Signals Intelligence & Sustainment Company, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 25th Infantry Division in the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) Section where he served as the Primary Communications Security (COMSEC) Hand Receipt Holder, Primary Key Control Custodian, Assistant Physical Security Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO), and Team B Team Leader. While there, he supported multiple mission exercises to include Ulchi Freedom Guardian 17; Warfighter (WFX) 17-04; Lightning Forge 17 (LF-17), Key Resolve 18, and WFX 19-01. Currently, he is assigned to 104th Military Intelligence Company, attached to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Processing, Exploitation, & Dissemination Battalion, 116th Military Intelligence Brigade in the Intelligence and Electronic Warfare (IEW) Section where he has served as the IEW Helpdesk Shift Leader, IEW Production Control NCO, Guardrail Team Leader, Alternate Key Custodian, and Alternate COMSEC Hand Receipt Holder. He currently serves as the IEW Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) NCOIC and is projected to be on assignment to Military Intelligence Company Brigade Combat Team, 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, Fort Riley, Kansas. Staff Sergeant Larson’s military education includes Generator Operators Course, Ammo 62 Technical Transportation of Hazardous Material, Digital Training Management System, Unit Armorer Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Prophet Ground Systems Maintainer Course, Basic Leader Course, Command Post of the Future (CPOF) Operator Course, and Advanced Leaders Course. His civilian education includes 15 Semester Hours from Anne Arundel Community College and 64 Semester Hours from Cochise College. His technical certifications include CompTIA Security+ and ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management. Staff Sergeant Larson’s short-term goals include acquiring the Microsoft Administrator Certification, completing his Associates Degree in Computer Science, and volunteering at least 8 hours per month at the Tactical Advantage Sportsman’s Complex in the Firearm Maintenance Position. His long-term goals include acquiring a Defense Language Proficiency Test score of 1/1 in Swedish and Russian, and becoming selected to become a 353T Warrant Officer.
