I spent many years in Shuttle support. All of it was at a distance, but it was still rewarding. Being involved in the beginning of Doppler Weather Radar was also a big rush. I got credit for a multi-million dollar aircraft save at Vance AFB. I would not take a million for my 5 years service in SEA. I met a lot of great people...Thai, Vietnamese, and American.

NCOIC DOD NexRad Test Team

HQ 6WS (being disbanded) | Tinker AFB, OK

I went to Tinker and NSSL to set up the military section of the combined (ATC/NWS/AWS) doppler radar (NexRad) test team. The test was to be conducted at Raytheon in Boston. I had several run ins with the local weather detachment and decided to retire. BG Chapman was not amused.
