Military Experiences

1995 - 1996
Apache Unit 2/227th was reassigned to a different Brigade d/t serious bad rep of having more drunk flying accidents than the entire European Theater combined. All Pilots (but one) and most crew member in Trac. When I landed in Landstuhl and the SSG saw I was going to Hanau he said "I hope you don't get the 2/227th, it's where they send all the higher up screw up's, hands down the worst unit in Germany.” I thought he were kidding I was wrong. Sick call, I.V.'s, injections, meds, EKG's, suturing pilots that tried to open packages containing their new knife with a knife, cut / stabbing themselves . Gave profiles for no handling of sharp objects (no kidding). Also kept watch over soldiers in the barracks with alcohol poisoning or black outs, to make sure they didn't aspirate vomit and die.
Jan 1992 - Mar 1993
Medic
Attached to 2nd ID at Camp Edwards and Camp Red Cloud as ambulance support. Assisted the Dentist when he didn't have tech's. Sick call. Retrofitted a plain white panel van into a fully functional ALS Ambo. The big civilian cracker box one they bought at CRC wouldn't fit down the narrow Korean streets to the hospital. Held the speed and safety record to make it from Humphries / Edwards / CRC to the 121st Evacuation Hospital in Seoul. Rode the back when speed wasn't the necessity and medical care was. Had a KATUSA that needed to be to Osan Airbase for a flight to a training session on the southern tip. He told me I drove like a Korean taxi driver. In my defense the old GMC's drove a lot different than a Humvee.
