Cultural Support Team Member (CST)
Served as an enabler in support of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) forces in and around secured objective areas in Afghanistan. Primary task was to engage the local female population on objectives when such contact may be deemed culturally inappropriate if performed by a male service member. Cultural support training focused on basic human behavior, tactical questioning, message seeding, Islamic and Afghan cultures, women and their role in Afghanistan, and tribalism.
