Fire Control platoon sergeant for a Patriot battery. Stationed with 8th ID aviation brigade. Air defense with aviation unit was interesting combination. We had two outlying hard stand locations we pulled manning at. Patriot had a mission to watch the air for Warsaw Pact planes until 1992. Spent alot of time in the field on maneuvers.

Team sergeant for a custodial team assigned to B/22 Flakrak, a German Luftwaffe Nike Herc unit. Basically a mini first sergeant.

Dexheim, FRG B/2/1 ADA

Section Chief of a Nike Hercules section. Was located 15 minutes from Mainz and for a Nike Herc unit was a great location. Was actually located on a American kaserne, Mcaully Barracks. Means we had all the amenities we needed. Could even walk to work.

Isolated Nike Hercules unit on top of mountain. Was my first overseas deployment. No transportation off of hill except by lpc. Of course we all worked alot of hours. 24 on and off was common and 36 on 12 off not unheard of. A tough assignment with little down time.
