Worked as alcohol and drug abuse counselor, for ten years, and then worked as pipefitter for ten more years. Was finally given disability for gunshot wounds and head trauma (basal skull fracture) incurred while in service and under orders. Line of duty investigation showed no misjudgements on my part, so VA caught up from 70% to 100% soon after this. Have been functionally retired since then
