C BTRY
Gunner 2nd section, Ammo Sergeant also for squadron ammo. This was when each squadron had its on How Btry's. So just guessing if this would have been c btry?
Started out in 2nd Section as Gunner at the rank of Corporal due to my promotable status. We deployed to Kuwait for about 4 to 6 months. Once we returned i was promoted to Sergeant. We also prepared to move the entire 3rd ACR to Ft Carson Colorado. Once we moved to FT Carson i was asked to take over Battery Ammunition Section. Signed for over 2 million dollars in equipment and assigned 7 soldiers and family members to take care of. Which i did with pride just as SGT Howard Nash taught me. I received several more Army Achievement Medals and 2 Army Commendation Medals, Good Conduct Medal 2nd award, Kuwait Liberation Medal, and Asia service Ribbon. Maintained Expert Rifle, Expert Machine Gun. Also helped the Squadron field the Mark 19 Grenade Launcher, and 240 Bravo's. As i remember it.
Aug 1990 - 1993
Cannon Crew Member
Started out as a Powder Man and worked my way fast track to Assistant Gunner. By doing what i was told, doing it well and to the best of my ability. Had a excellent Chief of Section Sgt Howard Nash. He taught us in the section every ones job's so that if one is taken out the other could fill it with no problems. Work up the ranks fast with waivers for time in service and grade on all promotions up to Sgt E-5. Schools attended were Primary Leadership Development Course, Drivers Training Course, Combat Life Saver Course. Awards and Decorations- Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Over Seas Medal, Army Achievement medal with two Oak leaf clusters, Army NCO Professional Development Ribbon. Expert Rifle, Drivers-Wheel Bar. As i remember it.
