Bio 

Sergeant Joshua Balog is a native of Tullahoma, Tennessee, and enlisted in the United States Army as a Combat Documentation/Production Specialist in 1999. SGT Balog reported for Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, S.C., in January, 2000. Following graduation, SGT Balog attended Advanced Individual Training at the Defense Information School on Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. In 2001, SGT Balog received orders to report to Camp Zama, Japan, to serve as a photographer, videographer and producer with the 78th Signal Battalion. In 2002, SGT Balog received orders to report to Hohenfels, Germany, to serve as a combat training videographer and producer. In 2004, SGT Balog received orders to report to the 55th Signal Company (Combat Camera), Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. In 2005, SGT Balog deployed to Afghanistan as a team leader in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to provide the 10th Mountain Division and other units with photographic support. In 2008, SGT Balog deployed to Iraq as a team leader in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to provide photographic support to the 2nd Armored Cavalry Division and other units. In 2009, SGT Balog received orders to report to Vicenza, Italy, to serve as a television producer and radio announcer at the American Forces Network Europe. In 2012, SGT Balog received orders to report to the 55th Signal Company (Combat Camera), Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. He served as a team leader, and is currently serving as the Deployment Cycle Support NCO in the Operations section. In July 2013, SGT Balog graduated Advanced Leader’s Course with a 96% GPA, earning Distinguished Graduate. SGT Balog’s awards and decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, and two Army Achievement Medals. Goals: In the short term, SGT Balog looks forward to serving as an instructor at either the Defense Information School or the Regimental Non-Commissioned Officer Academy Detachment at Ft. George G. Meade, MD. Long term, SGT Balog plans to attain the rank of Sergeant First Class within the next 5 years.
