USS Valley Forge (CG-50), Decommissioned Ships | San Diego, CA

Onboard USS Valley Forge served in the first combined U.S.-Russian exercise to take place on American Soil, in Pearl Harbor, HI. Also, participated and the Commemoration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the end of World War II at this time. Concluded service on the Valley Forge deployed to the Persian Gulf in company with the USS Carl Vinson Battle Group. The CVBG conducted extensive operations in the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Southern Watch. Awarded Good Conduct, National Defense, Southwest Asia Service, Armed Forces Expeditionary medals. Awarded the Navy “E” Award (Efficiency). Four-time recipient of the Sea Service Deployment ribbon. Honorable Discharge.

USS Independence (CV-62), Decommissioned Ships | Yokosuka, Japan

Onboard USS Independence, served in the Persian Gulf in Operation Southern Watch. Southern Watch was the enforcement of a ban on Iraqi warplanes and helicopters from flying south of the 32nd parallel.
