31 Division (Bowsprint) | NSGA Edzell, Scotland

31 Division (Bowsprint) Operations Chief providing Special Intelligence to National Commands and deployed Naval assets in the North Atlantic, Barents Sea, Baltic Sea and Europe. Overseeing four collection watch sections and Processing & Reporting assets in the largest division. In 1982, I lead a team of linguists, Morse Code Intercept operators and analysts aboard the USS Fairfax County on a mission in the Barents Sea off the Kola Peninsula. At the end of that mission, the Captain received a message from the Captain of NSGA Edzell that I had been selected for Senior Chief. My tour was cut short when NSA asked me to done civilian clothes and be their representative at the Defense Language Institute/Foreign Language Center on the Presidio of Monterey.
