Bio

I have served as an Armament Adviser to the Kuwait Air Force, then as a Logistics Specialist, Manager, Analyst, and Engineer for four companies during this time. Although one company was bought by another, then another bought it as well.

Military Experiences

Jul 1970 - Jun 1971
VMA-311
Aviation Ordnanceman (AO)
Arrived in Okinawa where we received our orders to either RVN or Iwakuni, Japan. Of course, I went to RVN. Arrived in Da Nang, was processed, went to Chu Lai. Only stayed a couple weeks, then back to Da Nang. Drove a crane for a while. In Da Nang, no crane needed. Got to work with Sgt John Floyd repairing the systems for releasing ordnance from aircraft. After a while went on guard duty. Remained there until unit left for Iwakuni, Japan. In japan we had to inventory all of our shipboard gear and began get out of the RVN way of doing things. Returned home in July.
Mar 1970 - Jun 1970
MALS-31
Aviation Ordnanceman (AO)
A Note: the drop down menus do not have the correct information due to the time frame I am writing about. for example, I was attached to H&MS-31, not MALS-31. Got to Beaufort and began to learn to inventory tools on a daily basis. Stood duty at the bomb dump. That was fun! Was sent to Cherry Point for more schools, Gun pods, Shrike missile, F-4 conventional weapons loading, unofficial Mk 46 Destructors, other classes pertaining to weapons. Left Beaufort in May to go to WestPac. Reported to San Bernadino, CA in July.
Oct 1969 - Mar 1970
Student
Aviation Ordnance "A" School. Basic Ordnance training in loading bombs on aircraft. Learning about Aviation Maintenance, Safety, using hand tools, learning about guns, missiles, rockets, electrical systems, fuzes, boosters, ammo, and anything else that was to do with aviation ordnance.
Sep 1969 - Oct 1969
Basic Trainee
We were all air wingers, going though the "30 Day Wonder" program, as the grunts called it. We learned to fire all of the infantry weapons. The M-60 machine gun, the M-79 Grenade Launcher, the LAAW, the 3.5 Rocket Launcher, M-16, Hand Grenades, then the force marches, the bivouacs, the low crawls, the high crawls, the shelter halves into the tents. more close order drills, more forced marches at route step. C-rations to eat, sometimes in the mess hall, then the rack that you wondered why you had it, since you never slept in it. Then "THE" movie, don't even know what it was, but we got to go to it. Then, finally, going home on leave!
