In between included promotion, enhanced responsibilities, and a couple deployments before ETS'ing on the last day of October 2003 (despite stop loss) , due to my ex-wife being arrested for child neglect while I was recovering at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany; from battle casualty sustained in Fallujah, Iraq in July 2003 at the city power station.

Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)
Team Leader. Participated as spearhead during the invasion seeing action in outside Najaf, in the Karbala Gap, Iskandiriyah (6 April 03), Battle of Baghdad (07-09 April) including most notably OBJ CURLY where outnumbered 10-1, 82 of us broke thru to capture central Baghdad. Occupation of Baghdad (Mansour; al-Kindi) and then Fallujah (from May-Aug)

1st combat battalion deployed to theater as the intense training and build-up for war and invasion of Iraq.

National Training Center
Selected as a PFC above peers as dismount team leader after E-5 who held position broke his arm in rail head detail. Awarded an AAM for my accomplishments along with my Squad Leader for among other things, setting up an ambush on OP-4 that wiped out OP-4 platoon. At return from 'Sand Box' was promoted E-4 Specialist (with waiver).
