I am currently a civilian working in the academic world of microbiology research. I have been studying both bacterial pathogens and viruses with a goal of working for USAMRIID or CDC researching potential biologic WMD. My desire was to serve in the United States Marine Corps under MOS 5711, but a cancer diagnosis as a result of a genetic autoimmune disease prevented that.
