21 years active duty with assignments from Thailand to Turkey through the US and Europe. Close out of SEA to SWA and Desert Shield, Desert Storm, OPC I, II, and III, and Northern No Fly Zone along with direct communications support to support US and NATO Operation throughout the Balkans. 1st day of Retirement Jul 1 1996.

Project Manager (SDI) - Communication System Program Office (CSPO/PGM) - DOD Integrated Digital Switching Systems, Copper and Fiber Optic Cable Systems and Communications Computer Systems. Ran projects at Cannon, Holloman (F117 Bed down), Luke, Davis-Monthan, Pope AFB/Ft Bragg, then jumped to projects in Norway, England, Germany, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. This was my final assignment. Unit deactivated, no intention of going to EID Tinker AFB after 6 years of TDY's and putting my family second. It was the Best job I ever had in the military.

NCOIC Outside Plant While assigned to NATO/JSG - The major tasking were in direct support of Desert Storm and Desert Shield. I was tasked with the installation of the New NATO Wartime Battle Staff Facility in the new tunnel complex (classified location). Accomplished in time for the start of Air Operation supporting Desert Storm. All material was either carried or rolled 1/2 mile within the complex past blast doors. This was accomplished while still maintaining 100% uptime on all Telecommunications supporting HQ NATO 6th Allied Tactical Air Forces and HQ NATO Land South East.

NCOIC Outside Plant/Telephone Maintenance While assigned to 2184th CS - Many accolades were received for innovation in the development of mobile, field deployable communications package utilized for Aircraft Accident Investigation Teams, Operational Ready Inspection Teams and Wing level exercises. Direct support of communications for GLCM. We kept busy accomplishing upgrades and equipment change out while providing 100% up time of all telecommunication equipment. Graduated NCO Academy. Skied the Alps in France, Switzerland, Austria and Germany.

NCOIC Telephone Maintenance/Wire Chief While assigned to the 2142nd CS - Our small section renovated system from electro mechanical to Electronic systems while still utilizing and old XY Step Switch. One major renovation project was the F16 Plant built at Murted AB. Through contacts at ACD I was able to generate a SAM mission with all the cable required to complete this Major Project in direct support of this vital program. Our Det CO at Murted, a young LT John P, ended up requesting me for a by name assignment several years later to Communications System Program Office. Support all Dets.
