Military Experiences

Jan 1995 - Jul 1996
Battalion Logistics Officer (S4)
Managed all logistics at Battalion Level. Oversaw Company Supply activities and worked with Brigade Logistics throughout the brigade. I played a lot of golf with the Brigade Commander too. I was pretty good and able to smoke it from the tee. Got a hole in one once with him too. Pretty good gig to transition to civilian world from. My replacement arrived in July and wanted the job immediately...no problem for me. The Colonel approved my transition training program (I created) and I immediately took an outside job until retiring Jan 31, 1997.
Nov 1992 - Jan 1995
HHC
Senior Supply Sergeant
S4 NCOIC and Platoon Sergeant for one bad ass Ranger Battalion. We maintained everything needed for battle and garrison activities anywhere in the world. Frequently deployed around the globe I couldn't recall them all. We exceeded the standard everywhere we went and in everything we did. The Ranger Creed was in full force. Two notable deployments were Somalia and Gitmo. Biggest regret, not taking time to get my tab. After 3 fast years I needed to prep for retirement. Well connected by this time, DA offered me the Infantry Training Brigade as S4 of the 30th AG Reception Station. I jumped on that.
Jan 1992 - Nov 1992
A Co
Supply Sergeant (S4)
Here I go, back in the fast lane again. I prepped for this and was in great physical shape for it. Returning to the Rangers was exhilarating. I loved working there every day. I met my beautiful wife my 4th day at Benning (just celebrated 24th anniversary too). A Co was hard charging with 1SG McClain, CPT M Garrett (now LTG, Centcom). We had a kick ass XO 1LT T Turpin who kept us all well above standard. Just an honor to serve there and support my Ranger Company. We went on many deployments, exercises, and just great training ops. No combat but locked and loaded for the 9 hr sequence. I was again promoted by LTC John T Keneally (SPC & SFC) Battalion Commander shortly before his death in Utah. Such a loss for the Regiment.
Jan 1987 - Dec 1991
Butte MEPS
Supply Sergeant (S4)
Hunting, Fishing, Camping. This was an incredible 5 year assignment. It was a small MEPS and necessitated frequent trips to Malmstrom AFB, in Great Falls, MT. I love the outdoors and you couldn't get anymore outdoors than in southwest Montana. I got very involved in the community, had two sons but sadly my marriage was doomed. Ordered to QM BNCOC, I completed #1 of 50, Distinguished Grad. Ordered to QM ANCOC, I completed #1 of 49, Distinguished Grad. PCS was looming so another call to DA for assignment shopping. They were definite I was going to Germany or Korea again...unless I was interested in another hardship assignment. They offered me any of the three Ranger Bns. I chose 3rd Bat so I could stay conus. They sent me to Ft Lewis for their surgeon to erase my P3 profile...
