LAT MOVE Question,

I’m currently a 2111 and was wanting to re-enlist but do security forces. Would I have to go through SOI again and if so how would going through SOI be like for an NCO?

I appreciate the response and the insight about your experience, I’m currently going through CPLs course so hopefully that will lead me in the right direction on being a better NCO to prepare me if I do have to change my primary MOS to infantry.

Also, I went to FAST Co and 2 of the 3 squad leaders were pogs filling their B billet by being in FAST so now that I’m thinking about it, security forces is a secondary MOS so for NCO’s it counts as a B billet and you don’t have to change your primary MOS, just go through BSG school. If you want to be successful in a field that is dominated by grunts and is really meant for grunts then I would recommend a primary MOS change and immediately try to get orders to FAST.

When I went through SOI there were a bunch o NCO’s all lat moving to recon. They are treated as NCO’s while also expect to lead the junior marines and be an example. So be in shape and study infantry shit before you go. The one thing you can’t do is look dumb in front of the boots. One of the NCO’s in my class was not ready for SOI (not that it’s particularly difficult) and was routinely found sleeping and missing gear. That dude had his ass ridden by every instructor until the end of the school and I’m not sure the let him graduate.
