USS Fitzgerald: Investigate First, Blame Later

This a Naval Officer culture across the Navy. If your subordinates mess up, we as Officer are responsible and accountable for them. I agree, but then I disagree. I’ve seen to many good officers be let go many time over things they have no control of and given a DFC and then they have to fight for their careers going through the Board of Inquiry process. Most of the time, the officer have not done anything negligently, but again our culture needs to change and start using better common sense. I guarantee you that most JAGs know which officers have blatantly neglected processes, procedures, and everything in between because they have seen the difference in the cases they see.

Bill, he raises some good points, but I'm not sure I agree with all of it.
