I had a question regarding uniforms. A friend is retiring soon and I was wondering if I'm allowed to attend in uniform?
Navy Veteran, honorable discharge, still in regs physically, still in regs for hair, simply need to shave.
From what I've read there's a statement about ceremonies/parades of a patriotic nature with active military taking part. But nothing singles out retirement ceremonies.
Ceremony is in early February.
Thanks

I have seen old Retirees wear their old Uniforms to these and other events, That being said as someone else stated it is That persons retirement, It is not about you or your service / ribbons / time in. Wear a suit, look sharp be the retiree that you already are. Smile know you did your time but that life has come to a close. Support your friend by showing that there is life after military and help them transition to it.
Just my advice.

Not allowed to attend in uniform. You were not retired yourself and the day is more for the retiree than you. Just attend in nice suit or slacks and wish him fair winds and following seas

Only if you retired and then you have to be within regs and the current dress uniform.
