I am a prior service applicant currently seeking a position in the Regular Army. I have worked with multiple recruiters and station commanders over the past six months. I keep getting the run around from everyone I work with.

I served in the Air Force Reserve from 2009-2013 and Army Reserve from 2013-2017. I have an honorable discharge from both services.

The issue is I do have a three on my PULHES for hearing. During my eight years of service, I had H-1/H-2 hearing levels. Just prior to ESTing, I had my final physical which showed H-3 levels at 4000Hz. In 2016, the 4000 Hz threshold for my right ear was 10 dB. In 2017, my threshold was 40 dB. Per AR 40-501, the hearing threshold in the BETTER ear cannot exceed 35 dB at 4000 Hz. 5 dB was the difference maker between me keeping a two on my PULHES prior to ETSing.

I have been to four different recruiting stations over the past six months. The first station I went to I spoke directly with the station commander. He was blunt. He stated his station does not process prior service applicants and that they're too much of a hassle. The second station I went to just gave me the run around. When I went to the third station, I thought everything was going well. The recruiter stated he was going to submit a med read. I made contact with the recruiter, once a week for 12 weeks. He kept on stating that he hasn't heard back from MEPS. On around week 7, The recruiter advised that MEPS lost my paperwork so he had to submit a new med read.

After 12 weeks, I moved on to my fourth station. I spoke directly with the station commander. The station commander reviewed my file and stated there was no way the last recruiter even submitted a med read to MEPS. She couldn't find any record of a med read being submitted. This station commander is now insisting that I need to have a DD214 to enlist. I explained to her twice that in the reserves we get discharge orders upon release, not DD214's. I've made contact with her once a week for the past three weeks and she keeps on stating that she's waiting for guidance.

What do I have to do to find a recruiter with extensive knowledge on prior service recruiting. I have all documentation needed to enlist. I know I need a REDD Report, med read and/or waiver to test at MEPS. It seems like this last recruiter lacks the knowledge to process me. I really don't know what to do at this point.

Army Station Commander here. You will never find someone that knows 100% about prior service. Medically it’s all about submitting the waiver. As far as the prior service part they should need your SD214 from training, your discharge order from the Airforce Reserve and your discharge order from the Army Reserve.

if they have those documents, they can pull the REDD report. The only thing I see as being a possible hang up would be the hearing waiver. I’m not sure why they might Be having an issue on the prior service part unless you are collecting disability SPC Maximilian Rodriguez

I would never think about collecting disability. I hear fine. I just happened to pop 5dB higher on my out processing physical. I have my full medical record from the AMMED Processing Center. I don't even have a "H-3 Profile" in the record, just an H-2 profile. That's not even the real issue. It's the fact that the station commander keeps insisting on a final DD214. She has three from the Air Force and two discharge orders which show honorable discharges from two services.
