Chelsea/Bradley Manning has been released from prison after serving only 7 years of a 35 year sentence for selling classified documents, etc. While in prison he decided that he wanted to be a she and manipulated the Army into paying for reassignment surgery and supportive post-operative therapies. Now she remains on Active duty without pay, doing nothing meaningful, but has full Post Exchange, Commissary and medical privileges for an indefinite period while her appeals process crawls along at a snails pace.
This is a person who admitted to her crimes and was tried and convicted. Why is this happening? Give her her Dishonorable Discharge or Bad Conduct Discharge and get it over with.
I'm willing to bet though that she will want a medical disability so she can use the VA to further leach off the government.

Man, talk about taking FULL ADVANTAGE of the system. I agree that she should have been walked out of the USDB dishonorable discharge in-hand. The news said she had accumulated unused leave on the books. Jesus. Damn traitor.

How do you accumulate leave while an inmate in prison? I was on staff at the Naval Disciplinary Command in Portsmouth, N.H. and our prisoners did not earn leave. They did earn behavior days (good behavior) at the rate of one day per month but that only pertained to their sentence. What the news did say is that she is in a status they are calling excessive leave status, whatever that means!
