Lightbenders is a course given by a retired photographer; a clinical psychologist is also attached to the class. It is in conjunction with the VA, and has a 501 C3 certificate for charitable contributions. The class is designed for Vets dealing with PTS, the potential students are interviewed before being selected for the course.
So far there have been 2 classes, they are limited due to the limited availability of equipment. The course uses Nikon D7500's with a short range, and a mid range lens.
The equipment was paid for by donations. The first class had 3 Veterans, class 2 had 4 Vets complete the course, the goal is to eventually have this program around the US.
Christopher Chaffee is a retired photographer, Vietnam Veteran, and an outstanding source of knowledge about photography, the Creative Cloud software that you can subscribe to online (Lightroom and Photoshop) for about $9 per month.

You didn't mention Chris Chaffees' location but It would greatly interest me if too much travel expense is involved. I'll be checking the FB page shortly. Thanks for posting this David.

Next spring when the 4th class starts the plan is for him to be teaching one class at the VAMC and another at the BOX. This looks pretty cool, unfortunately I'm on the other side of the country. But I do love photography and it's interesting how before I got married and had a family photography helped in my recovery the first time I went through therapy for PTS but it has been on the back burner but has started to come back here and there.
