I was remarking to my wife last night about the dearth of decent choices in the last election and what looks to be perhaps worse choices in the next one.
Do I choose an amoral person who is clearly in it for self-aggrandizement. Who has displayed an inherent desire to divide Americans against each other in order to acquire the 51% he needs to govern?
Or do I chose among the many fools who are blatantly lying to our faces nightly about pie-in-the-sky programs that cost trillions we do not have on people who do not wish to work? Then they have the temerity to say that their obvious need to confiscate trillions in hard-earned wages will be repaid as some form of benefit.
I have an idea. Let's run a candidate who takes a pragmatic approach to actually solving problems instead of promoting "issues" as a way to be perpetually reelected. I can get behind that guy or gal regardless of party affiliation. I laugh at loud out grand schemes to fix society's ills through this or that proposal. ALMOST EVERYONE RUNNING IS CURRENTLY IN OFFICE SOMEWHERE. Feel free to actually do you job and legislate your great ideas.
I think Trump tries but his character flaws fundamentally undermine his ability to have credibility and build consensus.
