Good afternoon, my friends. I learned this afternoon, that I need to update the GoFundMe I initiated to help my 96-year-old mother-in-law pay her real estate tax bill.
I learned today that the real estate bill is approximately $3,200 per year.
I have contributed to GoFundMe campaigns before. This is my first experience.
I learned a few things the hard way :-)
1st I did not realize the steps that I should have taken when starting the campaign. Apparently one of the key steps is setting up a distribution schedule. This is after you register and set up a bank account to have funds placed into.
Money was taken away fro the account after a month. I expect that is because I had not initiated the distribution process in the initial month.
2nd notification of people is an important step. Getting the word out tends to be by word of mouth and more effectively by electronic notifications.
