I wish I could support Webb,, but I can't. While I honor his wartime service, he was a quitter as Secretary of the Navy. Not eve a year in office under Reagan and I don't remember him being missed when he left.

You apparently don't recall what happened. I do, vividly. Then SecNav Webb -resigned-on-principle-. He was asked by the SecDef to misrepresent the effectiveness of a class of USN ships to the Congress. That is - to misrepresent facts to the Congress, also known as lying. He called out SecDef Carlucci at the time on this.

So I am guessing you have some other motive to not like Senator Webb because the one you give is way too flimsy.

Oh, I remember his time well too. He resigned because of budget cuts and the decommissioning of more ships than he was willing to let go.

As for your insinuation that there must be some other motive. There is none. It's my opinion that he quit when he couldn't get his way politically. I get it, but he'd been at the Pentagon for several years and knew how things worked.

Whatever happened to the military remaining neutral in terms of politics?

LTC (Join to see) - Anyone can donate money and not lose their bearing. People can attend events in civilian clothes. There are plenty of ways to affect the political process while in uniform.

LTC (Join to see) - Do you really support everyone's right here to espouse their beliefs because it sure reads to me like you are trying to chill our First Amendment rights by questioning our ability to speak without remaining neutral. Mr. Webb is a private citizen and not an elected official anymore. We can speak freely of his abilities and or inabilities at will.

I like how how you quote the oath to defend the constitution and then turn a blind eye when it's being abused and would like to abuse it yourself by quelling the first amendment. I can understand now why you think every service member should just bite his tongue and take what comes.

I think that you need to go back and read the regulations on this. I really think that if you want to talk politics then you should take it to Facebook or some other website of your choice and do it as a private citizen. On here you are not that but rather Capt or SPC or LTC and literally give the impression of the military endorsement of a particular view. Like it or not, that is what it looks like.
