The list in the article appears solid. I think the ones by Sutton, Covey, Maxwell, and Greenleaf are very good. I would add these: Primal Leadership (Goleman, et al), The Effective Executive (Drucker), What Got You Here Won't Get You There (Goldsmith), MOJO (Goldsmith), and The Leadership Challenge (Kouzes & Posner). Just my humble opinion.

Tim, thanks for your input. I definitely agree on "What Got You Here Won't Get You There". In fact, I'm reading it right now. I had the privilege of attending the FORSCOM High Potential Leader Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC from 7-11 Dec 2015 and this book was one of the ones specifically brought up. The CCL bookstore is also filled with a host of other top-tier leadership books, many of which I intend to read and add to my professional library. I will also use some of them as part of my Leader Development Program material when I assume battalion command this coming summer.

Drew, congratulations on attending CCL. I'll check out their book list. If you have a great interest in leadership/management, you probably have many of Peter Drucker's books. Although he has many published books (39 books), there are several worth reading that apply to today's environment. I've collected many due to some recent classwork. By the way, I toured the old FORSCOM building when it was in Ga.. I assume the new one is much better. Regards, Tim
