What are some general things you should know about research studies?
You are being asked to take part in a research study. To join the study is voluntary.
You may refuse to join, or you may withdraw your consent to be in the study, for any reason, without penalty.

Research studies are designed to obtain new knowledge. This new information may help people in the future. You may not receive any direct benefit from being in the research study. There also may be risks to being in research studies.

Details about this study are discussed below. It is important that you understand this information so that you can make an informed choice about being in this research study.
You should ask the researchers named above, or staff members who may assist them, any questions you have about this study at any time.

What is the purpose of this study?
The purpose of this research is to provide better information for Army personnel managers that match officers to existing career paths within the Army. Information is the critical exchange mechanism in any voluntary transaction. With the correct information, employers and employees can reach mutually beneficial agreements that increase the overall performance of their organizations and the individual satisfaction of their employees.
Retention of the right officers for the right jobs requires two mutual decisions. The Army has to make the decision to retain the officer, and the officer has to choose to remain in the service. The Army’s decision is largely the result of performance potential. The officer’s decision is largely the result of satisfaction. A high performing officer that is satisfied with their current position and future outlook results in both a commitment from the Army to retain the talent and a commitment from the officer to remain in service.
The goal of this research is to properly identify the needs of the officer pool and the rewards from existing career paths.

How long will your part in this study last?
This survey should take you 30 minutes or less.

What will happen if you take part in the study?
You will be asked to fill out an online survey. The questions in the survey ask for your personal input on the rewards within your branch and the needs that you seek in your Army career.

What are the possible benefits from being in this study?
Research is designed to benefit society by gaining new knowledge. You will not benefit personally from being in this research study.

What are the possible risks or discomforts involved from being in this study?
There may be uncommon or previously unknown risks. You should report any problems to the researcher.

What if we learn about new findings or information during the study?
You will be given any new information gained during the course of the study that might affect your willingness to continue your participation.

How will information about you be protected?
All data collected will only be confidentially protected within the Qualtrics survey site sponsored by UNC. The survey is anonymous and participants will not be identified in any report or publication about this study.

What if you want to stop before your part in the study is complete?
You can withdraw from this study at any time, without penalty.

Will you receive anything for being in this study?
You will not receive any financial compensation from this study. You will be assisting new talent management initiatives in the Army by providing honest input.
Will it cost you anything to be in this study?
It will not cost you anything to be in this study.

What if you have questions about this study?
