1LT Garlin Murl Conner will posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his valor during WWII. 1LT Conner ran away from a field hospital to get back to his soldiers and toward the battle and singlehandedly held off 6 advancing German Panzers and 600 infantry. He called in artillery on his position killing 50 German soldiers and injuring another 100. In addition to the Medal of Honor, 1LT Conner earned 4 Silver Stars, 4 Bronze Stars, 7 Purple Hearts, and the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions during WWII.
