Thanks for sharing SGT Jeff Decker. To be honest I was surprised to transition paired with recovery from PTSD.
Resetting your "beliefs" is a tall order. The "ten examples of useful beliefs" may well be helpful to adjust your mind to "a positive and productive frame instantly:"
1.I am grateful. Thousands fought and didn’t come home. Every day I spend alive is a gift.
2.I can find happiness and joy in little things...a cold beer...a good laugh...a pretty face.
3.I’ve got my friends and families six and help them more than they expect.
4.My past experiences do not equal my future experiences.
5.I am in control of my life and am responsible for its success.
6.I can always find a way to succeed by working hard and persevering.
7.If I can’t do something, I can learn to do it. If I can learn, then I can do anything.
8.If I struggle with something, I am about to break through a new barrier for the first time. Therefore, struggling is a sign of growth.
9.The difference between losers and winners is that the losers fail and quit while the winners fail, learn, and try again! There are no failures, only outcomes. Fail better!!
10.Everything happens for a reason and a purpose that serves me. Oftentimes, I just can’t see the upside immediately.

I found the system flawed. They system may work for ACTIVE duty but transitioning back from active duty through a deployment with the Guard or Reserves is much different. We have jobs and family waiting on our return. The TAP program is designed for and all ACTIVE soldier that has been in for awhile to go to civilian life and how to do that transition. Some of the programs that they say they have , for instance the resume help, take you to a web site that you either have to pay to have someone tell you to do 1 through 5 in an email and look everything up yourself. We where told that SOMEONE would help with the resume. Nope false. But there were may other things that were just not good about the program. They catch you coming home from a deployment that you have to get things check the box to complete, and we just want to go home. Active duty comes home then goes into the program. We have so much going on in a short time frame. 2 months at FT Bliss spin up and 2 weeks, if not shorter, to DEMOB. not complaining because I got to go home to my wife and kids, but what about the unemployed or underemployed younger soldiers? What about the older soldiers that are underemployed? Everyone says to do college classes while deployed. How was that. I was 12 to 14 hrs on a post, then chow, then pt, then shower. Their are another 2 hrs gone. then 4 hrs sleep to start all over again.

I maybe I was wrong and looking in the wrong places but the info that I got wasn't helpful at all. Also all the jobs that I have tried to land in the civilian world are for at least a Battalion staffer (NCO or OFFICER) or higher.
