yeah well... i've worked for startups IN Silicon Valley and Seattle, even one in Atlanta. THIS is what they want.
1) multiple skills. take a look at my profile & see what i teach at the college level. Multiple Skills. Kinda like being a Marine, your MOS doesn't matter you'll do what we need you to do RIGHT NOW!
2) Youth. the ability to work LONG hours and live off a diet of pizza & Mountain Dew or Jolt Cola (they still make that? i guess it's Red Bull or Monster now). One of the BIG surprises when I came to the startup in Atlanta was the difference in work ethic. I was THE senior developer. We had a build coming up for an Alpha Release. On a Wednesday afternoon I told the other developers to kiss their sweeties goodbye Thursday morning because we were going into the pit. Thursday afternoon i started ordering Dominos and kept doing it until Tuesday Morning. Yes, we stayed up 5 straight days hacking code and doing builds. lost two developers after that, but the ones that stayed knew what was expected. Now YOU know.
3) ability to think outside the box. in fact, what box? they want minds that do not accept limitations.

so... there you have it.

I don't agree with a few key points, but most of I agree with. LinkedIn profile media is hugely dependent on the role you are looking for. Also if you treat your resume like you would be writing yourself awards they look pretty darn good on a resume.
